Digital melting point determination apparatus using standard capillaries

Product Description:

The REACH Devices RD-MP digital melting point apparatus is a robust device which will withstand heavy everyday use while providing excellent accuracy in melting temperature measurements. The RD-MP is a perfect choice for undergraduate chemistry or professional research labs, as well as for pharmaceutical and biotechnical companies.

The RD-MP is a “heated aluminum block”-type melting point determination apparatus designed for standard capillaries. Three embedded platinum RTDs (resistance temperature detectors) are implemented to provide reliable and accurate measurements over a long service lifetime. The RD-MP carries out smooth, oscillation-free temperature ramping (1.5, 3, 6 and 12oC/min), so a user can observe the melting process with little effort or intervention.

The RD-MP is built to withstand heavy, long-time use without the need for re-calibration. However, if desired, the apparatus can be quickly and simply re-calibrated. This can be done using either the provided pair of melting point standards (99.998% pure indium and tin sealed under vacuum; three pairs are included), or a different standard pair of choice. The standards are stored within the RD-MP case, and require an Allen wrench to retrieve. This feature prevents losing the standards while keeping unduly inquisitive students from damaging them.

  • Aluminum heating block design (no oil). 30 - 250oC range, ±0.5oC long-term accuracy
  • Allows for 6 standard capillaries simultaneously.
  • Selectable, temperature-independent, 1.5, 3, 6 and 12oC/min heating rates, controlled by a microprocessor. Also, a "fast" mode is available that can be used for a quick "pre-heating" of the unit closer to an approximately known melting point.
  • Temperature is independently measured by three platinum resistance temperature detectors (RTDs).
  • Data is presented on the integrated unit LCD, so no external thermometer is needed.
  • Rapid cool off with the embedded fan enables rapid consecutive trials. Cooling 250 to 45oC in typical conditions takes ∼10min.
  • The durable glass magnifying lens and bright LED backlight allow for clear sample observaion.
  • For viewing convenience, the unit is tiltable using the integrated stand bar.
  • Durable metal case resists physical trauma or heavy use.
  • Automatic shut-off improves safety.
  • Available for 120V or 220V line voltage, 20W max power draw.
  • Weight: 2 lbs (900g).
  • Dimensions: 5 x 2.5 x 4.75” (127 x 64 x 121mm)
  • List price $560.00. HS code 9027.50.40. To order contact sales@reachdevices.com.
